Temperley Bridal - Ophelia 2012 Collection

I was thrilled to be invited to a special bloggers breakfast for the launch of the new collection from the unbelievably talented Alice Temperley. Unfortunately *sob* I wasn't able to attend [downside of a day job!] however the lovely people over at Temperley Bridal have kindly let me showcase some of the stunning Ophelia 2012 collection.

Oh how I've always loved the name Ophelia [I studied Shakespeare!] so I already had a romantic idea of the dresses before even seeing them.

Unlike previously, this new collection will be available at leading bridal boutiques worldwide from April. This is a larger range including favourites from the past years along with new styles that will appeal to a wider audience of brides. The varied styles consist of ready-to-wear and also bespoke options with the intricate detail and ethereal nature that Temperley Bridal is synonymous for.

As a bride-to-be there is a plethora of dresses and designers to choose from, but sometimes it's the little touches that just capture your heart. Each dress in the Ophelia 2012 ready-to-wear collection has had elements personally selected by Alice sewn into the seam - for the bride's 'Something Old' there is a 1920's vintage button. The 'Something New' is a sequin from the new collection and the 'Something Blue' is a small piece of hand embroidery. How special is that!?

In a mass produced world, these hand-crafted elements make this feel like a really special purchase, and it should be - it's your wedding dress!

These styles include elongated body skimming silhouettes, draped silks and french lace. We also see some more structured styles and voluminous tulle appliqué skirts [which of course, are my heaven!].

I think these last three are amongst my favourites. Modern but oozing femininity and style. Along with the gowns, Ophelia 2012 also includes accessories such as decadent head pieces, embellished sashes for the waist and beautiful french lace veils.

The Temperley Bridal line evolved after Alice's own wedding in 2002 when she received many requests from friends to also create their wedding gowns.

It's nice when our men scrub up well I do love to see a dashing groom in a well cut suit, fitted shirt and a stylish tie, and ever since I posted this rainbow wedding I have become rather fond of the Liberty fabric ties.

You can make your own from their plethora of beautiful floral fabrics if you are skilled in the sewing arena, or know someone who is, but if not [let's face it, this is more the likely option] you can buy some stunning floral ties from their Liberty London Collection. They are so classic, a floral tie will never date [especially when it's Liberty!].

Obsessed: Sprinkle Sprinkle! Hundreds & Thousands Inspiration

Something about the colourful itty bitty nature of sprinkles [aka hundreds and thousands] that I just can't get enough of at the moment. In cakes, on ice cream, around a cocktail rim, the little rainbow sugar delight makes the most cute and delicious detail.

Perhaps it's also the fond memories of baking fairy cakes as a kid and hence probably bouncing merrily off the walls from the consumed E numbers afterwards. Ahhh happy memories! The big kid in me still says these are fun, and so many ways to use them!

Being the other half to a designer/animator I do like a little bit of creative thinking when it comes to the old save the date's. I was so pleased to come across the work of Charlie Scribble - a self-confessed stationery and paper geek.

Since their own wedding day they want to inspire couples to stay true to themselves throughout the details of their wedding, whether it's with a printed invtation, name tags or an animated save the date they want to ensure it's personal to you.

Sassi Holford - 2012 Bridal Collection - Modern Romance

Whilst I don't like to think of certain people being 'trend setters' I can't forgo a mention of a certain Duchess of Cambridge for her choice of gown and thus bringing the lace sleeve back so to speak. Some girls love lace, others find it fussy or too traditional but when it's used elegantly and in designs that fit like a glove then it's no surprise that it was the choice of a Princess.

Sassi Holford is a UK designer [whoop!] who has long been the choice for the modern and elegant bride for a traditional yet exquisite bridal look. Here is a glimpse of Sassi's new 2012 bridal collection - the designs below are all from the Couture Collection, exclusive to the London boutique. Whilst I must admit I'm not the first to be the usual lace loving lass, these dresses with their subtle shimmer of skin under the lace are incredibly seductive...especially Ingrid [above]. I love the way these dresses have been styled minimally with simple hair in neat waves, team with a statement headpiece to keep the look modern and stylish.

Spring/Summer 2012 Paris Fashion Shows [Louis Vuitton & Chanel]

As if I didn't like the season of Spring enough [yes, I spend most of August - February dreaming of it] the added extra of the Spring Summer fashion shows just adds to my excitement.

I am constantly inspired by designers runway shows around the globe, less so perhaps by the clothes as such but more so about the theme, styling and set design. God only knows how much budget they have for such things [I can but dream to work with something on that level] but if you're going to splurge, then at least be different and impress.

And boy did this impress. A carousel catwalk with the entire set painted white. This is just stunning event design, and I love how the models are all sitting atop the horses and just casually drift off one by one to the catwalk. Of course the clothes are divine [lots of white, isn't there!?] but also I rather like the circus like music too [can't decide if it's creepy or not?].

Well I may not have had front row seats in Paris, but at least I can still enjoy the show...

Well, well well. It has been a hectic 6 weeks since the launch of Dashing Magazine in early December - esepcially with the Christmas break in between but we've done it! We launched our brand new Issue 2 of Dashing magazine today [cue massive sigh of relief]!

From hereon, Dashing will continue to be a bi-monthly online inspirational magazine for the stylish and spirited girl. A big shout out to all our contributors and anyone who helped make issue 2 happen - there are some flippin amazing suppliers and people out there, all hugely talented and very lovely.

Dashing is 100% original content all put together by just three of us, Josie [Savoir Weddings] and Fanni [Fubu Media/Fanni Williams Photography] and myself so it's a rather big labour of love.

Mrs Scoops. Otherwise known as Hayley from Vintage Scoops, who is owner of Betty, the cutest ice-cream van filled with deliciousness which can be hired for weddings and events. See, isn't she sweet!

Contemporary Bridal Dresses - Elizabeth Stuart

It's no wonder that so many brides move into the wedding industry themselves after discovering a gap in the market during the search for their own wedding day.

Well bridal designer Elizabeth Stuart was one such bride. Having struggled finding the perfect fashion forward, sophisticated dress for her wedding in 2009 she launched a collection to offer just this to other brides to be.

She's designed the dresses to be fun, playful but luxurious with feminine structures for the contemporary, fashion forward bride to set her apart from the ordinary. Looking at these dresses, I very much believe they do just that.

Always a fan of stylish but girly details, I love the bow back detail on the simple Sweet Pea and my favourite is of course the showstopper above, Cherry Blossom. Something about the basque and the neckline that gives it a bit of Carrie Bradshaw appeal. Definitely one for the girl with a good décolletage. And the skirt, well it speaks for itself really.

A London Bride Engagement Shoot - Tiffanie + James

Tiffanie is from Georgia in the States and is engaged to James who is from Knaresborough. Whilst over visiting James' family over Christmas they planned to stop off in London and Tiffanie got in touch with me as she thought it would be the perfect opportunity to get have an engagement shoot in the big smoke. Tiffanie wanted a lovely relaxed session of the two of them whilst taking in a few of London's iconic sites. I was lucky enough to work with a great team; photographers Chanelle and Craig from Segerius Bruce did a wonderful job of capturing London on a beautiful winters day, Mariam Jenson gave Tiffanie her flawless look with airbrush make up and Elbie van Eeden created two looks with Tiffanie's stunning dark long hair.

It was great getting to know Tiffanie and James and I was so pleased the sun shone for them! And just how much am I envious of her Jason Wu dress? I also find it pretty crazy that she had to buy the lovely white coat specifically for this as she doesn't own a single jumper or coat back in Georgia! Imagine!

Love Lock Bridge in Paris

Oh J'adore! Have you heard about Love Lock Bridge in Paris? Well, I hadn't but oh my, the romance! I am absolutely making sure I pack a padlock next time I take a trip across the channel as I want to contribute! Love padlocks (or Love Locks) are a custom where couples attach a padlock to a fence, bridge or gate to symbolize their eternal love and tradition has it that the key is thrown in the river.

I love these images by photographer Lukas Van Dyke who walked for over a mile to find a lock shop so they could then go back and attach one to the bridge, so cute!

This cute little Parisian elopement by photographer Sean Flanigan shows the couple attaching their personalised lock on Pont des Arts bridge on their wedding day (between the Louvre and the Seine) and the padlock even has their initials on it. Awww.

Well, my first Christmas with Mr M awaits me [warning, apparently once your engaged you have more responsibility with sharing family time at Christmas!] but I have a feeling 2012 is going to be a big year, not just for London and the Olympics, but hopefully for London Bride too.

High Street Wonder - Ted Baker Wedding Style Dresses

I braved the hoards of tourists at the weekend to go to Harrods for my annual mooch with my Dad. It's become a bit of a tradition and it's more just to take in the festivities and buy a few bits than a serious Christmas shopping expedition. We used to get taken here as kids to see Father Christmas and visit the toy departement so although it's just a department store, it holds many happy childhood memories.

Anyway, I digress - we were meandering through the glitter and silk of Way In when I spotted these rather special little numbers. Being a bride on a budget myself, you should never forget the power of the high street. These two dresses caught my eye from Ted Baker and I think they would make the most gorgeous dress for either a bride or a very lucky bridesmaid. Perfect for someone having a city chic wedding soon, who doesn't have time to have a dress made, or great for a getaway wedding too. They aren't the cheapest high street finds, but I guess the price reflects the layers of lace and handsewn appliqué details.

Sixties in the City - Dashing Photo Shoot with Emma Case

A few months ago I had that niggling idea of creating a city-chic sixties photo shoot. I blame my slight obsession with An Education [if you haven't seen it then oh you so must!]. The shoot was featured as part of our first issue of Dashing Magazine, which if you haven't had a read of, you can do so here [this shoot is on pages 70-78]: www.dashingmag.com.

I wanted to capture a more urban sixties feel rather than the usual glamour and was keen for architecture to play a role so I decided to hold the shoot at the infamous Barbican Centre in London.

When I had this vision, I knew the perfect photographer would be Emma Case, having worked with her before she has such an unusual eye that you just can't put your finger on, and her sense of style really is unique [who knew window reflections could look so cool] so I knew her images would fit the look and feel I was hoping to achieve, slightly gritty, slightly sexy and very urban. I was also keen to get quite a few in black and white and I have always loved Emma's black and white wedding photographs.

I was also lucky enough to snag Elbie Van Eeden, who is a very talented hair and make up artist. You only ever need to explain your vision once to Elbie and she just gets it. We wanted to do two looks with the model who was the extremely gorgeous ash-blonde and leggy Alana Hillenaar - so we did one look where the eyeliner was key with tousled natural half up half down hair, and one look where we did the sexy messy up do with strong plum lips [a Dashing tutorial coming your way ladies!].

Unfortunately the dress we had in mind for the shoot didn't work out so we had to use a back up dress for the first look [which happens to reside in my wardrobe!] and yes, that is my faux fur coat that I used too! For the slightly more chic evening look I was keen to have an embellished shift dress and was loaned the stunning Matthew Williamson Poppy Georgette dress [thanks Fong!] which really is rather fabulous and completes the more glamorous sixties look.

I'd like to say a big thank you to Emma, Elbie, Alana [especially out in the cold!] and Fong and also to Fanni who helped on the day and who also put the fabulous spread together for Dashing Magzine. These shoots may look easy but they require a lot of hard work from everyone so thank you again to all those involved.

Colour Clashing - Orange & Pink Wedding Details

Amidst all this grey, red green and white, my eye seems to be drawn away to bright colours, clashing colours and in particular oranges and pinks. These colours are the perfect accent at a wedding against white. Used sparingly with florals, nails, shoes or decorations it's a burst of colour in an oh-so-fashionable way.

Coming to London - Jonathan Ong

I know there is a whole heap of choice when it comes to amazingly talented photographers over here in the UK but it's not often we also get a visit from an amazingly talented photographer visiting the UK from Australia. Well, girls and boys this is your chance to have your wedding photographed by Jonathan Ong, who up until this point I was [crazily] unaware of but, well... his photographic journal blew me away. Quirky Wedding Videos - Stop Motion Animation by Bayly & Moore

Being that Mr M is a director/animator maybe I'm into a bit of stop motion more than the average person. However, when you see the work of Sophia Bayly & Simon Moore I'm sure you might just love it a little bit too...

There's no arguing that this is for the more quirky couple, for those looking for a video-less-cheesy than the norm, as it is such a cute and unusual way of documenting a wedding but I totally see why this pair and their stop motion wedding and engagement videos are surging in popularity.

Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, Bayly & Moore believe that a picture speaks a thousand words and the duo will in fact be over in Europe in May 2012 - so if YOU are looking for a quirky videographer or photographer to document your day or even your engagement session then these guys may well be a fantastic choice for you. Honestly their work is pretty phenomenal and I'm already envious for anyone who has the chance to work with them over here!

Mr & Mrs [Kerry and James] St Paul's Cathedral & Protestors

I was contacted by the very lovely Charlie [ahem, there's a few of us isn't there!] at We Heart Pictures to feature this wedding, and being 'London' Bride it seemed the perfect fit for the blog.

Having a wedding in London can put you at risk to certain unavoidable events that occur. I remember being a bridesmaid for my friend who was getting married at the ICA just off The Mall a few years back and due to protests, she had to arrive and get ready in the office with no mirror and was very late for her own wedding, eek!

Kerry and James were married at the end of October and had their ceremony in the amazing St Paul's Cathedral - which not everyone can do but they were lucky enough to marry there as Kerry's dad had been awarded an MBE which allows his children to have the privilege of marrying there.

However due to St Paul's iconic status - Occupy London, an ongoing protest and demonstration against economic inequality - had taken redisency outside the Cathedral since mid October.

I can only imagine the worry it would have caused the couple in the days leading up to the wedding as the area was attracting a lot of press and activity. Kerry says it was touch and go whether the Cathedral would be open on the day due to the protest, however they were determined not to let this spoil their wedding. Instead the couple chose to embrace the unusual nature of their wedding day and stopped for photographs on the steps surrounded by press and tourists, with the protestors even wishing them well on their special day and for a happy marriage. It's so lovely to see a bride and groom so relaxed and taking everything in their stride on the day. Sometimes you just can't plan these things!

It was an emotional ceremony, as sadly Kerry's dad passed away, so she took the opportunity to involve her children with her two boys, Reece and Connor giving her away and her daughter Koralie as her maid of honour. Kerry felt very lucky to do this and she says that she had some surreal moments and really felt like her dad was watching over them on the day. So lovely to have those feelings!

The reception was held at Café du Marche as it's not only their favourite restaurant but also where James proposed, how sweet! As huge food lovers they wanted to make sure their guests enjoyed the meal so knew it would be a great choice for them.

The reception was decorated with Kerry's favourite colours and had a lovely informal feel to it. The chairs all had homemade cushions [by a very talented friend!] and the flower jugs were collected and sourced in junk shops and on ebay by Kerry.

After the meal the guests enjoyed a photobooth by We Heart Pictures and Kerry describes the day as being so perfect. "honestly and truly it really was the best day of my life, I married my best friend and I now feel so complete and happy".

Kerry's advice is "take time out on the day - slow down and look around to enjoy everyone and everything. The time goes so fast you need to remember to relax and enjoy yourself."

A BIG New Project - Dashing Magazine

If you came round to my house you will no doubt notice my severe addiction to magazines. I have forever wanted to be an editor, and though I LOVE writing London Bride, there is something just so nice about an actual designed publication.

Many many months ago myself and two brilliant colleagues and friends Josie [Savoir Weddings] and Fanni [Fubu Media/Fanni Williams Photography] brainstormed and decided to take the plunge into the unknown. Yes, we are not journalists, but us three crazy ladies decided that we wanted to start our own magazine. We wanted aspirational, fun, creative, inspiring and pretty.

And so, we videoed, we branded, we copywrote, we designed, we skyped, we edited, we photographed, we styled, we marketed, we proofread, we promoted, we interviewed, we tweeted, we stressed [a lot] and here it is....

I cannot tell you how much work it has been [hence why it's been a touch quieter than normal on here], but want I can tell you is that I'm rather proud. From having that nugget of an idea to working our little socks off to seeing the finished result it really is an awesome feeling. I also want to thank all our wonderful and talented contributors and advertisers who believed in us from the get go - you can see them all here. And a mention for the lady behind all the interwebby stuff, Kim who has done a fab job with getting us set up!

I do hope you enjoy it, we'd love to know what you think. Of course I will still be writing all things wedding on London Bride so I won't be going anywhere, but would love your support with Dashing too [if I can be so greedy].

I also must shout out to my bussiness buddies...

Josie is one helluva organised lass. She likes lists [a lot] and is pretty good with databases too. She's also right on the ball and a pretty witty writer. This girl also knows what to do with glitter.

Fanni is sh*t hot. This lady has designed a magazine from scratch and put up with my whines over fonts and flashes for months, so she deserves a medal. She also takes a damn good photo.

Ladies, a big fat high five.

And without going to 'oscary' on you, thanks also to Mr MM who has put up with not having a fiancé for about 3 months. Thank you for your support and shoulder to cry, more than a few times!

Mr & Mrs: Amy & Dave - A Rainbow Wedding Full Of Their Favourite Things

I know you guys don't come here for my overflowing posts on real weddings but I am hoping to change that. It's hard keeping up with some of the full time blogs who showcase them really well but I am trying to bring you more, I promise! It's all about the modern, pretty, fun and stylish wedding here!

With a love of Italy and having got engaged in Lake Garda, Amy and Dave had a beautiful blue skied October wedding at Hever Castle's Italian Gardens & Guthrie Pavillion. Having been concerned about the unpredictable autumnal weather for months any many friends questioning their choice of date, they needn't have worried because on the day it happened to be one of the warmest days of 2011 [I remember this weekend well as I went to Whitstable for a bike ride and to watch the sunset!]. What a fabulous omen, and such magical light throughout their photos.

Amy and Dave really wanted their wedding to represent them as a couple and be a combination of their favourite things. This in fact ended up being a running theme for them...'raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens...' I loved looking through their photos and seeing how many of these wonderful 'favourite things' they incorporated! They also each included many of their favourite things as elements throughout the day such as colour, art, floral prints, design details and live music.

Amy has a penchant for all things multi-coloured so they decided on including this with their bridal party and each bridesmaid wore a different bright colour - picked from the hues on the Liberty print floral tie that Dave wore. In this vintage inspired era of dusky pinks and creams it's SO refreshing to see colour at a wedding, makes it so bright and cheerful [although I think the blue skies help!].

How much do you love the Liberty floral print details! Such a beautiful way of incorporating a pretty pattern into the wedding as they also used it across their wedding stationery and in fact this pattern also formed the basis of the floral designs for the day.

The couples choice of favours were one of the biggest hits of the day. They'd spent a year [wow, a year!] painting something that reminded them of each guest onto mini canvases. Such a personal detail and packaged neatly in brown paper tied up with string no wonder the guests loved them.

The flowers were arranged in bright copper kettles which Amy spent time sourcing on ebay and car bootsales and they even had teeny plastic raindrops on the roses, now that is a cute detail! Amy knew she wanted a multi-coloured bouquet to reflect her love of bright colours and I love the big blue sash tied around it - her perfect something blue.

As a talking point for the guests the couple re-wrote the 'favourite things' song to include all of their own which was a personal touch and got lots of laughs at the dinner table!

One of Amy's favourite memories of the day was waiting to walk down the aisle behind a pillar watching her niece and nephew release balloons into the sky as all the guests clapped. Such a sweet memory and such a nice way to involve young family members in the day.

Amy chose to walk down the aisle to Daft Punk's Digital Love but played by a string quartet. Personally I've always been a fan of this song, and I bet it sounded great being played on strings. As an element of surprise, after they said I do, they walked back up the aisle to the theme from Austin Powers and hidden amongst the guests were a percussionist and a trumpet player!

Words of advice from Amy are to keep everything as personal as possible to you. She says it was the main thing that all her guests commented on and is a lovely reflection of you as husband and wife. Amy also says to appreciate that if you ask for help with your wedding, respect that everyone else have lives too - so be considerate. She also highly recommends getting your ushers involved all the way as they can be a great help on the day and it's a great way of including them. I have to say from a wedding planners point of view I agree with this - they are a great point of call on the day and between them can sort out many things!

Eco-Bridal Week - Eco-Friendly Wedding Photography

Now jewellery, dresses and stationery are all quite obvious ways to help choose more environmentally friendly options for your wedding day, and you may not think that a photographer can be eco-friendly... however - there is in fact an element to which you can consider eco-friendly options with your photography choices - your wedding album. Although beautiful, these books can be heavily over packaged and made internationally or shipped from afar which means that can end up being fairly unsustainable.

The very talented Dasha from Exhibit Emotions practices many eco-friendly methods throughout her photography business, and she was keen to offer her couples greener wedding albums, but she didn't want to compromise on quality. She therefore chose to offer handcrafted fine art wedding albums which are made in the UK, helping ease the carbon footprint and the album is protected with environmentally friendly packaging too which keeps waste to a minimum. The beautiful presentation box is made of recycled card and the fine art paper is recycled or bought from sustainable sources. The real leather cover is a by-product of meat industry and it all comes wrapped in a sleeve made from natural, unbleached cotton.

Eco Bridal Week - Minna Bridal

We are all [hopefully] becoming more aware of eco brands within the wedding industry and it's always nice to know that there are options out there for brides if this is an important part of their wedding day. Happy Friday! Just a quick apology for the sporadic posts lately on London Bride. Currently working through the nights on a little something something so the blog has been on the back burner a little. All will be revealed soon...

I've been meaning to do a polka dot wedding board for some time now, and having saved up some delicious inspiration images I thought i'd finally share the board. I've kept it to a black, white and gold theme but maybe I'll do a colour one too another time.

Whilst I'd be tempted to place a polka dot on everything, accessories are a fun way to use spots and dots to keep it a little more low key, whilst they can also be used on a greater scale on your dress and decoration for a seriously playful and graphic style.

Jonas Peterson. Wedding photographer extrodinaire (and I mean, extrodinaire - the man is truly gifted) has for a while now been photographing the most beautiful, unique, stunning and talked about weddings. He's been featured on every big blog, written a book and has been an institution in wedding photography.

Well this week, he spoke out. It dawned on him that he believes the wedding industry has gone into detail obsession overdrive and forgotten the true meaning of a wedding. Two people. Love. Marriage

As a blogger, a stylist and a girl who just got engaged to some extent - I surprisingly agree.

Here is my take on things.

I started blogging because I didn't like the wedding industry that existed a few years back. It was cold and stuffy. There were limited options, everything was sparkly and pouffy, tacky, uncreative and overpriced. Everything matched. To me - they were all the same. So I thought where is the fun in that? How would a wedding like that feel like us as a couple? Well it wouldn't. We are both creative people, who've been together for 10 years, are best friends and like nice things and would want a big, cool celebration. That's why I started London Bride. For couples like us. To inspire creativity, showcase fun ideas, new suppliers and the latest fashion finds. These reasons are why most people read wedding blogs. They don't always read them to hear how in love a couple are. They want to read and see inspiration. Ideally a mix of both.

Yes, details are overdone - when irrelevant, but there is a time and a place for them. You see I'm a girl engaged to a designer boy who has for years never been thought of as 'creative' I work at a design agency but I'm the only one who doesn't design (I nag and manage if you're interested). But I'm the kind of girl who has bought issue after issue of Elle Decoration to look at the details. I don't look at how practical that kitchen is, I look at the stuff in it. I like stuff. Our flat is full of stuff. I like decorating. I am to an extent somewhat materialistic as I like nice things. I also of course, happen to love love. And friendship, kindness and fun. So for me personally, all these elements make up us and that is what I'd want from our wedding. A day of fun and love, filled with well, nice stuff.

As girls, we grow up dreaming of a pretty and romantic wedding (just read my bio - I wrote to Jim'll fix it asking to be a bride). It's (mostly) in our nature to think about the dress, the shoes and the magnificent country manor that we can only dream of living in. We only get one shot at this (we hope) and if this isn't our chance to have all the things we like, think are pretty and bring them together then when is it? Of course I want my wedding to be about love and friends and family - and it will. We've been together for 10 years so love to us isn't anything new - our wedding will be a celebration of this.

I grant my readers with more intellect than to just see a mood board about ribbons and just because they are 'popular' I don't expect you to use them. However, I do expect you to say - I like ribbons, they are pretty, they add colour and they may well transform some ugly chairs that I've had to use because I can't afford fancy ones. Fair enough, no?

Yes, we are seeing a lot of bunting around and I might not be it's biggest fan - but there is a time and a place for it. If you've had to scrimp on the venue and opted for a blank canvas village hall - a bit of bunting can make the space a little less cold and a bit more fun. You may have seen stripy straws everywhere but that's because they are cheap and easy and for someone who can't drink, makes a glass of orange juice a little bit more special!

There is a place for details.

My big bug bear with weddings is when they don't 'feel' like the couple. Don't forget who you both are, where you've come from and what you have together.

As a blogger now planning my own wedding I've made no decisions and have been overwhelmed by choice. These are some things that I've tried to do (and do with my couples) which might help you focus.

1. If you are going to use details, have them because you love them. DO NOT DO THEM JUST BECAUSE IT'S TRENDY. Just like in fashion, music and everything else... we are only inspiring you - you don't have to follow. It's ok not to like things but if you happen to then good. Harem pants for example were not for everyone, but they did suit some.

2. Transfer your personal styles into your wedding. Work in the city, live in a new build apartment, and enjoy splurging on a pair of high heels? Then I'd expect a modern, sleek city wedding with clean space and some killer Louboutins, not a marquee in a field. Enjoy travelling, good food and bike rides? Then jet off to the South of France have a simple ceremony, hire a cottage, eat great food and stay on to enjoy cycling around Provence. Like a mix of both? Hire a historic venue in Monaco wear some killer heels and arrive by bicycle.

3. Remind yourselves that this is just one day. When married you have a whole life ahead of you, a house to buy, kids to have, holidays to go on - so DO NOT SPEND BEYOND YOUR MEANS. Biggest thing is prioritise. Big fashion lover? Splurge on the dress. Really love food? Invest in good caterers. Put your money where it's important. This is a great way of reflecting you as a couple as your guests will say, well as 'Rachel' works in fashion, she looked amazing in her bespoke dress, or they have always loved the theatre so the old theatre hall venue was so perfect.

So the moral of this (epic) story? I think us bloggers should continue to feature weddings, couples adorably in love and inspiration of all kind. I'm pretty certain amongst us we try and showcase something for everyone, but good photography, interesting stories, useful advice and creative inspiration is key. If none of that is interesting to you then stay true to yourself and don't let us dictate your day....and maybe steer clear of blogs and mason jars.

London Bride visits Luxury Wedding Show

So this Saturday I managed to squeeze in a few hours to attend the Luxury Wedding Show in London at the Saatchi Gallery [how have I not been there before?]. I've attended my fair share of wedding shows, especially the big ones but wanted to visit this as it was a new show with a high calibre of exhibitors - so perhaps a little more up my street than some other shows [sorry, yes I am a bit of a snob]. I was privileged enough to get a press pass, however all the brides attending splashed out £50 for a ticket. It's a little on the high side, but it certainly did bring in the targeted clientele and I think they received a high level of personal service in return [not to mention a glass of champers and a goodie bag, which I'd like to note I for some reason missed, tsk!].

Using a gallery space worked really well. You wondered around rooms, floors and actually felt like the suppliers were really showcasing their fantastic work. Much like walking around an art exhibition and with a white backdrop the stands spoke for themselves with pretty decorations, fabulous props and of course some stand out products which really caught your eye.

Due to limited time I really did have a bit of a dash around, I only manaaged to chat to a hand full of exhibitors... amongst them were Raj Tent Club, Catherine Mead Photography, Kula Tsurdiu Bridal Designer, Luella's Boudoir

I did of course ensure that I took to the front row with my blogger friends to see the much anticipated catwalk show [my favourite bit]. Glass of champers on the house in hand, we ooh and aaahed at the couture gowns gracing the runway. I won't lie, some were pretty out there - mutters of 'who would wear that' and 'how on earth would you sit down to eat in that' were heard but they certainly grabbed our attention. It was a successful mix of couture, classic and contemporary designs and I have to say I definitely spotted a couple that I may be interested in [the other blogger gals had a lot of fun guessing which they were].

During the catwalk show it was interesting to see the trends emerging, lots of feathers, sequins and I loved the very sixties style of some of the new collection from Candy Anthony.

London Bride Heartfelts for Breast Cancer Awareness

I can't thank everyone enough for their support in this little Heartfelt project for the last week. For everyone who helped promote it and especially to those who have kindly placed an order with me. Sadly, it seems this is a charity that is close to many people's hearts from the response I've received but that really has made the fund raising even more worthwhile.

I [perhaps naively!] wasn't expecting so much wonderful support, so I've been overwhelmed with more than 60 orders in less than a week - aren't you just a lovely bunch! This has accumulated in over £245 being raised which will go direct to Breakthrough Breast Cancer which is well above the figure I was hoping for... so really a very BIG thank you.

To make sure I fulfill these wonderful orders that you have placed [despite sewing all weekend!] I'm afraid I'm unable to accept any further orders at the moment for Heartfelts. However, you can of course donate the £5 straight to Breakthrough Breast Cancer here.

So today is rather exciting as I'm launching a little something, eek! We are now in the full throws of October, which in case you didn't know, happens to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month here in the UK.

I'd like to do my bit and help raise some funds for registered charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer whilst giving something pretty to you lovely lot! So throughout October I will be super busy making London Bride Heartfelts, which are dinky little felt heart brooches that I hope will brighten up any outfit this Autumn and also remind us gals to look after ourselves and our boobs!

Each Heartfelt is handmade by me [given I have limited sewing skills this is quite amazing!] and they come in either a bright or light pink with a pin for you to attach to your coat/dress/bag/dog's collar etc! Vintage Sugar - Hall of Cakes

I do love how some cake makers really offer a unique and creative approach to providing bride and grooms with their delicious designs. These are the suppliers I love working with as they come up with some fabulous ideas and help bring your visions to life.

Hall of Cakes is no exception judging by this adorable and intricate creation of a vintage sugar garden. The bride, Gemma didn't want a uniform cake for her wedding at the fabulous venue Preston Court she wanted it to have a shabby chic and vintage inspired feel to it. Nicola of Hall of Cakes says that she was inspired by the fact that Gemma had been collecting vintage crockery for months so she wanted to incorporate this element into her cake. Nicola then drew sketches up and then got busy creating teacups and saucers - all out of sugar! These were adorned with the delicate sugar flowers all of course edible but also with a hope that they may in fact be kept by the brides family as a momento of the day.

Such an adorable idea, and so very beautiful. You can't quite help but admire the craft that went itnto this - I can't quite imagine having to cut it, can you?

I do love a bit of super 8 film as it really does lend itself to the romance of weddings, doesn't it? The team over at Shutterbox Films do an awesome job of capturing videos on both super 8 and digital footage for weddings. Seriously, these guys are so refreshing with their fun, non-cheesy and pretty damn adorable videos. I promise I'm not being biased just cos they have the most killer cute kitten I've ever seen.

But just to throw you off the scent, I'm not showing you a wedding video here. today [see their blog for more of that here] Instead, as I recently had a day in Paris and well, been more than a little bit in love with it ever since I thought this video was just too sweet not to share.

London Fashion Week[end]

I don't like to do too many me me me posts, but occasionally I get up to somthing fun, so thought you may be interested to hear about it. If not? Fair enough. Here goes anyway.

In our little uk wedding bloggers circle is the ever generous and owner of heart of gold anna and the ring [all lower case anna, check me!]. I entered a little comp over on her blog, only to be announced as the winner of a ticket to London Fashion Weekend at Somerset House on Saturday. I don't know about you but with all the fash peeps I follow on twitter/facebook my feed for two weeks is seemingly high jacked by the #lfw hashtag and quibbles on models, celebrity spottings, designer scandals and what I should be wearing in 6 months time...

I'll be honest and say I've never really 'got it' before - they talk about high end designs I'll never afford but should be making a note of to be slipping on in Spring 2012. Now, I'm a girl who only plans a week or so in advance so it gets lost on me a touch. I've also never been to a catwalk show [please say I'm not the only one?] so was a little dubious of what to expect, cue unwelcomed bitchy looks, feeling fat, frumpy and generally rather unkempt.

Obvs I was with anna, so I knew worst case we'd sit in the VIP area, slurp back some champers and have a wedding gossip, which incidently we did still do, however I was rather pleasantly surprised and now I believe I am going to have to beg, steal and borrow my way into the real thing next season as it was rather fun.

We managed to bag the best seats in the house on the front row at the entrance so equipped with iphone and instagram this was the results, oh the drama! I'd like to add I'm pleasantly surprised with these, oh if only I knew how to do shots like this with a 'real' camera...

So perhaps we may see some fringing, ga-ga structures, stripes and glittery shoes making their way onto brides in 2012? Do you think?

So what else did I learn?

1. Models walk funny [shoulders back, a bit like Mr Soft from that mint advert and very flat footed]
2. The London Fashion Weekend is not bitchy and you do NOT need to be a fashionista to attend
3. The VIP lounge is expensive but you do get a goodie bag
4. Grace Woodward likes me [ok, well maybe my dress]
5. I LOVE this version of Lykke Li 'I Follow Rivers' which was played on the catwalk
6. Somerset House is quite the venue!
7. Capes, knee high socks, bows round necks and tweed is what you should wear NOW.

I must be bored of my long hair, as I have been rather transfixed with sharp bobs of late. I know these images are of rather glamorous ladies, but I promise you this style can work for everyday! I have a friend who is rocking it at the moment and she happens to be a mum [practical too!] so far from the glam lifestyle and it works so well on her. I think the length is very flattering on the jaw line and perhaps for the less brave go a bit longer so that it goes just past the shoulders in a 'long bob'?

Whether it's a side parting, blonde, bleached out ends, tousled or sleek and centered I'd love to see brides carrying off such a look with a beautiful wedding dress. It shows off rather lovingly the beautiful decolletage of a woman. After all, if it's good enough for the red carpet then surely it's good enough for your big day? Oh and I do like a touch of the smokey eye with it...

Take A Bow - Vintage & Stylish Bow Ties by 'hello in there'

I'm pleased to update you all that the bell & belle bow tie collection from hello in there are now available again, whoop! Their vintage bow ties are so lovely and unique, I can vouch for that as I bought Mr M one as a gift and he donned it for a wedding last week. He looked rather dapper, even if I do say so myself!

I do like a man in a nice dickie bow, and up until now I could be found checking out the grooms [for research purposes, obv] on U.S wedding blogs with their dashing checks and fun gingham bow ties and thinking why oh why are they so hard to find in the style capital that is London?

Myself and Mr M went on the search earlier in the year for him to wear for a wedding and we were pretty unimpressed with the selection we discovered - it was either black velvet dinner ones or hideous garish patterns that only your Great Uncle Dave would consider sporting.

Needless to say that it was a rather nice surprise to get an email from the clever and creative sister and brother duo, Bev and Adam who have just started up new boutique 'hello in there' whilst finalising their studies in textiles and architecture. Gotta love that young family spirit!

Such is the way of many small companies, after making well received presents for friends, the boutique was born and Bev and Adam are aspiring to create unique, stylish and fun attire for both guys and gals.

The newest offering being 'bell & belle bow ties - crafted from vintage and remnant fabrics and individually handmade these are perfect for the groom looking for that unique, quirky and affordable finishing touch to his dapper suit. The handmade touch makes it just so much more special to wear, and much nicer to buy a unique design and support growing businesses than popping to Tie Rack wouldn't you?!

Keep an eye out for these two... something tells me they may not find a use for that architecture degree...

Whilst I haven't had a summer holiday this year I have been fortunate enough to have a couple of days in Paris and New York - my favourite cities [other than London obvs] so this seemed rather fitting. Whilst I was away in Paris I visited a pretty fabulous shop, called Colette. If you've been you'll know why it's fabulous, but if not it's an awesome little design concept store, full of lots of lovely things that you'd want to pocket [but can't quite afford].

I'd seen these on a few blogs but having seen them in the gallery in Colette, they are even more fabulous so I couldn't help but share them. The collection is a series of witty clichés and contradictions as prints, called Paris vs New York by Vahram Muratyan. A friendly visual match between two cities told by a lover of Paris wandering through New York.

Paper Round - Papermash

OK OK, so this isn't strictly paper... however a] they have paper in the title and b] they do sell nice papery goods, so I'm justified right? Plus it's Friday and Friday is always good to have something uplifting.

Papermash is one of those places I go to when I want pretty notebooks, cute cards or a top up of bakers twine or japanese masking tape. They've just had this little animation done and really I just wanted an excuse to share it. Being engaged [agh!] to an animator myself I do love a bit of stop motion so this video is right up my strada.

Of course I should say they do some lovely paper bits to... great for decorative deets! I am a HUGE fan of Rifle Paper Co and super pleased that Papermash are a stockist. I also use these cups at any given opportunity [friends, you will recognise them dearly].

Paper Round - Vintage Drawer Wedding Stationery & Greetings Cards

Next up on Paper Round is paper plus some other very pretty details. If you haven't already been introduced, then you simply must check out the marvellous Vicky Trainor empire. Vicky must have the nimblest fingers known to man - as well as printed stationery she also has a beautiful range 'Vintage Drawer' which she creates the details for by hand. These are all one-off unique designs crafted with retro and vintage fabrics, and other haberdashery pieces [what girl doesn't like buttons and stones?] so they are the ultimate in pretty and decadent and oh so tactile.

These cards below have launched this week as a development of the Vintage Drawer range. The wedding invitations will each have a unique design on the front, with the option to have your guests names printed in them. There are also adorable greetings cards with wording such as 'happiness' and 'all you need is love' - so perfect for the husband to be or to thank your parents in law!

Happy Wednesday! Have you already seen the wedding stationery I've featured this week on London Bride's Paper Round? If not do check them out!

Today I'm featuring the work of wedding stationery company Vintage Designs. These designs appeal to me as they are a little more paired back, graphic and less 'pretty'. Vintage Designs is founded on the principle of good, classic design - the kind that can be pulled out of a dusty box in twenty years time and still look timeless, and I love the idea that this could happen.

Andrew's custom stationery focuses on traditional type and illustration and not bows or ribbons and I guess there is a slight masculinity to these which is refreshing [and think the grooms out there will appreciate that too]. Andrew who studied design, aims to combine modern standards whilst reviving old principles and I think so far, he's doing a great job. I think these collections are perfect for someone looking for something a little unique but with traditional design principles as Andrew will work with you using his style but to create your vision.

Today in continuation of our Paper Round here on London Bride is the pretty fabulous [and another new find] Peppermint Paper Design. One man [erm girl] band, Lizzie produces bespoke wedding stationery and beautiful hand drawn illustrations which are a key part of her designs. They all have a touch of the carnival feel to them, or perhaps a bit Alice In Wonderland? I'm very fond of the unusual use of colour combos and quirky typefaces and you can tell a lot of work goes into making these so special for the clients. What lucky guests to receive these little works of art.

Lizzie draws on inspiration from 1950's illustrations, vintage cookery books and trips to the seaside and I think this is definitely reflected in these pretties... Perfect for a barn or summer fete style wedding.

This is to make up for my lack of blogging last week. You see, I had a last minute gorgeous wedding to co-ordinate and well, sometimes dear readers - clients must come first [sorry, you are equally important I promise]. Oh and of course congratulations to the beautiful bride and groom Angela and Tom, happy honeymooning! Of late I've been spoilt with introductions and findings of gorgeous paper pretties. I'm talking about wedding stationery that you receive in the post which makes you pin it on your fridge, keep it in that box of inspiration and just generally makes you rsvp pretty damn promptly. There really is so much choice out there - you don't have to buy a load of cream card and stick ribbon on it, oh nooo! So as I've been spoilt, I shall be spoiling you with a stationery post every day this week!

So first up is Boris and Doris. I've got to say, the name intrigued me alone! Briony and James started the company up after designing wedding invitations for friends and enjoying the process so much they took the plunge to do it full time, and we glad they did! Inspired by the beauty in picnics, country gardens and vintage fabrics their laser cut stationery is delicate and fun! I love this top one where they have laser cut the names like handwriting, so cute!

Lavender Field Shoot - London Bride Published - Cosmopolitan Bride

For me, this is a rather bittersweet post. You see - on the one hand I'm really rather chuffed* to have a 4 page spread of a London Bride styled shoot in my most favourite publication [yes it is, even over Grazia - gasp!] however on the other hand it's slightly dampened by the fact this is the last ever edition of Cosmopolitan Bride magazine to hit the shelves. A sad day for the wedding industry indeed. Of course however, I know editor Miranda Eason and her team will now be throwing all their effort into You and Your Wedding to make it even more fabulous, so all is certainly not lost. Phew.

If you haven't been able to get to the newsagents just yet, then here is a little bit of the prettiness styled and co-ordinated by me with super [and also pint sized!] photographer, Eddie Judd.

The shoot was inspired by the era of the Bohemian 1970's with a slight Provencial twist. Can you believe this lavender field location is near Croydon?! Sorry, I do hope that doesn't burst the bubble...

I Want To Ride My Bicycle

I also have a rather irrational fear of cycling in London [I even tried lessons, got within an inch of a scary red bus and freaked so major fail at that] which means that I doubt I'd ever even have the courage to potter around on this beauty unless I was in rural countryside.

London Bride [And Groom]

Last week, amongst the chaos that is our lives, we sent out a little invitation to our nearest and dearest friends to ask them to join us to celebrate our engagement.

For those who follow me on twitter/facebook you may recognise the famous typewriter...

I would have loved to have thrown a right old knees up, hired a room, invited family, decorated it with poms and streamers, created my own special drink and worn a knockout dress. But, alas - we are not in that world. We are crazy busy, pretty broke and have friends who are even more crazy busy and [probably] just as broke as we are.

So, instead it was a cocktail or two on a Wednesday night in Islington. I wore an H&M dress, he wore flip flops. Oh and we sat in a caravan.

Seeing the majority* of our friends in one room together, was a first [I've always been a tad nervous about this being that they are all from different walks of our lives]. However both me and Mr M had an overwhelming feeling of happiness, standing back we said how cool it was just to have everyone there, so now we can only imagine how awesome The Wedding will be.

Thanks to all our friends for coming along at such short notice to celebrate with us. Special thanks go to Nancy. You have taken probably one of my favourite pics of me and Mr M of all time [double chins and all] so thank you.

* sad that some couldn't make it but happy we have an excuse to catch up another time.

Blank Canvas - Classic White Cakes by Janet Mohapi-Banks

I've mentioned before my slight aversion to colour and sometimes there is a place for simple and clean white. I recently styled a wedding with a lot of pink in the flowers, details and decoration so we opted for a white cake because it would have been a touch OTT to have had a pink cake [though some say there's no such thing as too much pink?]

My eye is drawn to these snow white cakes by luxury wedding cake designer Janet Mohapi-Banks which I think are rather perfect to achieve that subtle, classic style. You can tell that they are exquisitely made to perfection and have that sort of quiet elegance that doesn't need shouting about.

The cakes are all handmade using the finest ingredients and the hand crafted sugar decorations like the hearts, or blossom flowers just make them a little more interesting and Janet does also make cakes with colour - in case you were wondering here's proof.

Paper Fix - For the Stationery Lover, Present & Correct

I have a leeeeetle obsession with stationery as do many people I know. What is it about wanting to surround yourself with graphic notebooks, stripy pencils, colourful pins and interesting envelopes? I've been a longstanding fan of Present and Correct and with their updated website I'm now even more so as it's ten times easier to find pretty things and therefore ten times more dangerous for my bank balance. On the plus side, if you are my friend and it's your birthday you should get a nice card.

Present and Correct however is not just for the stationery geek. You know when you just need to quench that thirst? Well this inspiration should do the trick. Gone are the days of serving just wine and Champagne in simple glasses, offer your guests more of a treat on the eyes and on the taste buds.

4. Tie ribbon round mason jars and add a wedge of lemon for a homemade pink lemonade.
5. Boys will be boys and they will love grabbing a beer from the bathtub!
6. Cute and sparkly DIY star shaped stirrers to go with delicious and chic cocktails.
7. My favourite Champagne bottles, mini and pink... with fleuro straws. Also washing up free!
8. Serve elderflower presse in coupé glasses with a sprig of lavender for a Provencial drink.
9. Ice, strawberries and ginger ale. Just add a touch of rum, taste of the tropics.
10. Babycham is coming back! Serve cold with bright straws - great for teenage guests!

[Engaged Anna-Maria + Sakhi] London Bride Styled Shoot - Little Venice

What seems like forever and ever ago when the sun was shining and London was in a happier place, I got to work with photographer Emily Quinton to style a little engagement session for these two gorgeous people, Anna-Maria and Sakhi. These guys were the lucky winners of a competition over on Love My Dress and they were both up for some fun so we took to the very sunny streets of Little Venice in North West London for a walk and a wander along the canal. It just so happened to be a special day in this lovely little pocket - with a festival and competition for the boats so they all looked extra shiny and pretty, hurrah!

They were getting married in Rome [in fact, around about now - congrats guys!] and they had an intimate UK ceremony which you can take a look at over on Rock n Roll Bride. She's one fashionable lady is Anna-Maria with a killer wardrobe!

I incorporated the Italian colours in their theme, and obviously chose Little Venice as a cute spot with the Italian reference but also as it was colourful and vibrant just like these guys.

Anna-Maria was treated to the talent of make up artist Katy Messer on the morning before the shoot. Alison at Pollen Nation created the awesome fresh flower hair garland and the delicious Emily at Tempting Cake created the adorable themed cookies [seriously, this girl can do anything with biscuits! Did you see the ballet shoes for the Glamour &amp; Grace shoot too?]

I have also been gagging to get a couple to scoff some candy floss whilst on a shoot, so after jumping up and down with excitement on finding a little stall, of course I forced them to have some. And I'd say they rather enjoyed it!

You guys were great fun, so relaxed and so in love - I hope you had an amazing time at both your UK and Rome celebrations and congratulations on becoming Mr and Mrs!

We Are All Made Of Stars - Laura Lee Jewellery

And so... back to normality and back to blogging! I've missed this! I've given up on my engagement post for now as it's taking forever but promise it'll be here soon! Thanks again to everyone who has tweeted, messaged, texted, facebooked, DM'd, phoned and instagrammed me. Each and every one of you made me smile and we are so very very happy. Just a little overwhelmed! Even after 9 years it was all one big exciting surprise.

I've known about Laura Lee Jewellery for sometime now but I am currently swooning over her latest A/W collection 'we are all made of stars'. I love the delicate and feminine feel to her designs, and the inscribes that adorn them are so romantic. Oh and stars are de rigeur at the moment didn't you know?

It's so great to know that all the pieces are handmade in the London workshop and there is also a fabulous boutique in Covent Garden in London [which is of course now on my list to visit!] which has a great range of pretty trinkets including engagement rings. They also offer a special bespoke service where they create something to your specifications. Just look at the pretty on offer!
